Important Information
The information provided in this Chain of Custody Form is for the purpose of examination and analysis by Collision Sciences Australia Labs. The client understands that the submission of the Air Bag Control Module (ACM) or any other module does not guarantee the successful extraction of data. The process of data retrieval, especially the chip-off process, may be destructive to the module, rendering it unusable post-examination. By signing and submitting this form, the client acknowledges and agrees that the module may not be returned and accepts the risk of potential damage to the module during the examination process.
Collision Sciences and all its directors, officers, employees and members shall not be liable for damages arising out of or related to incorrect, incomplete or misinterpreted software and/or data. Collision Sciences expressly excludes all liability for incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages arising from or related to the online services, evidence logistics, EDR data, EDR software or use thereof.
Important Note
As always, when removing an Electronic Data Recorder (EDR)/ACM or any other module, it is crucial to comply with current standard operating procedures. This includes ensuring that the vehicle is completley powered off during the removal process. This is important both for your own safety and for the preservation and integrity of the data within the module. If you are not comfortable or familiar with this process, please inform us immediately. Collision Sciences Australia Labs is available to provide guidance and support to ensure the correct and safe removal of the module.
Additional Terms
Non-Deployment Chip-Off Charges:
If no data is obtained due to the absence of recorded data at the time of the incident or if the module itself did not store any crash data for technical reasons, we reserve the right to charge $180 per hour, or part thereof, for non-deployment chip-offs. This fee covers the costs associated with conducting the work.
However, if we fail to retrieve data and retrieval is determined to be possible, all fees for that module will be waived.
Data Recovery is Not Guaranteed
While all measures will be taken, recovery depends on module condition, prior usage, and potential data overwriting. Success cannot be guaranteed.
